” Tensegrity ” is a combination of the words ” tension ” and ” integrity ” and describes the active interplay of tension and compression forces.

In cooperation with Archxx the designer Lars Meeß – Olsohn, whose passion for the stringly and artistically designed Tensegrity sculptures by the sculptor of Kenneth Snelson, led to the realization of the ” Light Structure ” series of luminaires.

These pre-tensioned structures contain ( illuminated ) compression struts that do not touch each other but instead are just held in tension in spaceby a bracing system of tensioning cables.

The various models follow the structural principel of ” form follows force “using hight quality components and materials to achieve an exact balance between the internal tension and compression forces.

The system’s fascination is partly due to its striking filigree nature and partly to the almost infinite possibilities for combining and expanding the system.

Grundlage für innovative Systemleuchten

Der Begriff “Tensegrity” setzt sich aus den Begriffen Tension (Spannung) und Integrity (Gesamtheit) zusammen und beschreibt das aktive Wechselspiel von Zug und Druckkräften.
Lars Meeß-Olsohns Leidenschaft für die künstlerisch-konstruktiv geprägten Tensegrity-Skulpturen des Bildhauers Kenneth Snelson, der vor nahezu 60 Jahren erste verspannte Freiformen realisierte, führte zur Entwicklung seiner Leuchtenserie “Light Structure”.

Diese vorgespannten Konstruktionen beinhalten Druck(Leucht)stäbe, die sich untereinander nicht berühren, sondern nur von einem aussteifenden System von Zugseilen räumlich verspannt werden.

Die verschiedenen Modelle folgen mit hochwertigen Komponenten und Materialien dem Strukturprinzip form follows force, als exakte Balance der inneren Zugund Druckkräfte.
Die Faszination des Systems liegt einerseits in der markanten Filigranität und andererseits in der fast grenzenlosen Kombinations- und Ausbaumöglichkeit.
